The Department of Public Works handles the recycling, composting and disposal of trash in an area landfill through our membership in
SOCRRA. As a member, Huntington Woods benefits directly from the sale of recyclables and the diversion of material from the landfill. It is important that we divert as much as we can and encourage the other 11 SOCRRA communities to do the same. SOCRRA provides us with the opportunity to divert more than half of our solid waste (trash) through our curbside and drop off recycling and yard waste programs. For more information on recycling in Michigan and the Governor's initiative on recycling, including the Governor's State-wide challenge to DOUBLE recycling by the end of 2016, check the
Michigan Recycling Coalition web site and become a member. Let HW be part of the solution.
