The Department of Public Works (DPW) is responsible for the care and maintenance of city facilities and common areas. In this capacity, DPW maintains close relationships with all city departments to provide a pleasant environment for city residents and employees.
Main responsibilities for the Department of Public Works include oversight of many important aspects of community life. These include, but are not exclusive of:
ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES (SANITATION)
ROADS and PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY
WATER/SEWER SYSTEMS (including MISS DIG stakings for water and sewer lines)
CITY VEHICLE MAINTENANCE
The Department of Public Works has a total of eight full time employees and one part-time office manager. Manager Jay Mader oversees the in-field work of the department: road, trees water and fleet divisions. He is assisted by a Supervisor, Marty Wozniak. Manager Claire Galed handles departmental finances/administration & record keeping as well as overseeing recycling, yard waste, trash collection and chipping contracts. All personnel in the Department of Public Works are cross trained.
